The annual Erie County Fire Fighters Association awards banquet for actions in 2018 was held at the Perry Hi-Way Hose Company social hall last night. 133 people were in attendance representing 15 fire companies from across Erie County. a social hour kicked off the event from 6pm to 7pm followed by a dinner catered by Serafin's market. The members had their choice of stuffed chicken breast, Prime rib or fish. Apple pie alamode was served for desert. Awards for 2018 activities were handed out:

Firefighter of The Year: James Catstarter - for his involvement in the legislative activities, county committees and actions in the county and state on behalf of Erie County Firefighters.

THE CONTRACT FOR 2 NEW AMBULANCES WAS SIGNED AND A $20,000 DEPOSIT MADE TODAY. 2 NEW PL CUSTOM AMBULANCES WILL BE BUILT ON NEW 2019 FORD F550 CHASSIS. DELIVERY IS SCHEDULED FOR THE SECOND WEEK OF FEBRUARY 2020. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TONIGHT VOTED TO RAISE THE PAY FOR THE FULL TIME PAID STAFF WE NOW HAVE BY 50 CENTS PER HOUR FOR THE NEXT STAFFING YEAR BUDGET WHICH RUNS JUNE 1 TO MAY 31. THIS WAS TO KEEP IN STEP WITH THE OTHER PAID SERVICES IN THE AREA AND ALSO BASED ON RAISES THE TOWNSHIP EMPLOYEES RECIEVE WHICH IS 3%. KIM ATTENDED THE CLASSES HELD IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY AND TESTED IN MARCH FOR HER NFPA 1006 CORE RESCUE CERTIFICATION. SHE PASSED BOTH THE PRACTICAL SKILLS TESTING PORTION BACK IN MARCH AND JUST RECEIVED HER RESULTS FROM THE WRITTEN TEST OF KNOWLEDGE FOR THE CERTIFICATION. We are happy to announce that we have added 2 new members to the paid staff roster. Paramedic / Firefighter Billy Manross has been hired to be used as a fill in for open medic / FF spots in the schedule. Billy has experience as a Emergycare paramedic and firefighter with the Wattsburgh and Union City fire departments. We are pleased to announce that we have hired Paramedic / firefighter Shawn Wroblewski to serve as the manager of the paid staff. Shawn has many years of experience as a paramedic and also has been a volunteer firefighter for several years. Shawn is leaving a full time medic position with Emergycare and will start in his new position at Perry Hi-Way on November 12, 2018.
