AFTER A LENGTHY STAY AT GLICK FIRE EQUIPMENT THE LADDER HAS FINALLY BEEN RETURNED. THE YEARLY LADDER MAINTENANCE (YEARLY CLEAN & LUBE) AND TESTING OF THE AERIAL DEVICE HAS BEEN COMPLETE AND NECESSARY REPAIRS TO 2 OF THE OUTRIGGER CYLINDERS HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
AT THE END OF DRILL ON MONDAY 11-20-2010 THE SKID UNIT AND GRASS FIRE EQUIPMENT WERE ALL REMOVED FROM TRUCK 439. THE PLOW WAS ATTACHED AND MADE SURE ALL WAS IN WORKING ORDER. THE TRUCK IS READY FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF PLOW DUTY FOR BOTH STATION 42 AND STATION 43.

AS REPORTED EARLIER THE LADDER IS OUT FOR TESTING. DURING THE TEST 2 OF THE OUTRIGGERS WERE FOUND TO HAVE SMALL LEAKS AT THE SEALS FOR THE OUTRIGGERS. TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE CYLINDERS HAD TO BE REMOVED AND SENT TO A CYLINDER REPAIR SHOP FOR REBUILD.

WE HAVE HAD SOME ACTIVITY IN GAINING NEW MEMBERS OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND AGAIN TONIGHT; TONY GILSON HAS BEEN WORKING ON HIS TRAINING TO GET READY TO RUN CALLS. HE HAS A FEW MORE WEEKS TO GO AND CLASSES TO ATTEND.

THIS MORNING LADDER 429 WAS TAKEN TO GLICK'S FIRE EQUIPMENT FOR IT'S ANNUAL LADDER INSPECTION / TESTING AND AERIEL MAINTENANCE. WE ANTICIPATE THE TRUCK TO BE GONE 2 OR 3 DAYS UNLESS SOMETHING IS FOUND ON THE INSPECTION.
A NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT HAS BEEN HIRED TO TAKE THE POSITION VACATED BY THE PAST ASSISTANT CANDY. THE NEW ASSISTANT IS DEBBIE AND SHE WILL BE IN THE OFFICE MONDAY THRU FRIDAY. SHE IS GETTING ADJUSTED TO THE POSITION AND WILL MOST LIKELY CONTINUE THE 9:30 AM TILL 1:30 PM HOURS.

RESCUE 428 WAS OUT FOR MAINTENANCE WORK MONDAY TILL WEDNESDAY TO FIX A NEWLY FOUND PROBLEM IN THE GENERATOR SYSTEM. THE PTO GENERATOR NEEDED TO HAVE A SWITCH INSTALLED AND THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER REPROGRAMMED DUE TO A FACTORY FLAW.

TONIGHT MEMBERS TRAINING INCLUDED A CONTROLLED BURN OF AN OLD HOME THAT WAS TO BE DEMOLISHED. THIS TRAINING IN VERY VALUABLE AS IT PROVIDES REAL LIVE FIRE EXPERIENCE. THIS ALLOWED OUR FIRE FIGHTERS TO SEE HOW FIRE ACTS AND CONSUMES THE BUILDING.

The Summit Township Supervisors have approved a trial period of reimbursement for calls answered. The Supervisors realize that the members use their own vehicles to respond to the stations for emergency calls and as such incur expenses.
AFTER A LENGTHY APPLICATION AND INSPECTION PROCESS WE WERE RECENTLY ABLE TO HAVE OUR VOLUNTARY RESCUE CERTIFICATION AT THE OPERATIONS LEVEL RENEWED. THE PAPERWORK WAS RECEIVED AS WELL AS OUR NEW STICKERS FOR 2010 THRU 2013.
