2013 IS THE YEAR FOR RENEWAL OF OUR VOLUNTEER RESCUE CERTIFICATION. THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS IS NOT REQUIRED BUT IS AS IT STATES, A VOLUNTARY CERTIFICATION PROCESS. EMMCO WEST IS THE STATE AGENCY RESPONSIBLE TO PERFORM THE INSPECTION PROCESS.

THIS WEEKEND WAS THE FIRST OF 2 20 HR WEEKENDS FOR THE CORE PREP CLASS. THIS CLASS IS COVERING THE BASIC RESCUE PRACTICES NEEDED TO PASS THE NFPA 1006 CERTIFICATION FOR BASIC RESCUE PRACTICES. THERE ARE 8 MEMBERS FROM PERRY HI-WAY TAKING THIS CLASS IN PREPARATION FOR THEIR CERTIFICATION TEST.

MONDAY NIGHT 22 OF OUR 24 ACTIVE FIRE / EMS MEMBERS WENT THRU THE ANNUAL PHYSICALS. BLOOD WORK WAS DRAWN TO CHECK CBC, METABOLIC PANEL AS WELL AS LIPID PROFILE. DIP URINE WAS COMPLETED AS WELL AS VISION SCREENING, EKG, PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING, MASK FIT TESTING AND TB TESTING.

TRUCK 439 HAD THE SKID UNIT AND BRUSH FIRE EQUIPMENT REMOVED. THE TRUCK NEEDED TO BE SENT TO THE MECHANIC FOR A BAD FUEL PUMP. IN ORDER FOR THE TRUCK TO FIT ON THE LIFT THE SKID UNIT AND BRUSH GEAR HAD TO BE REMOVED.
6 OF THE NEWER MEMBERS OF THE DEPARTMENT ATTENDED THE NIMS FOR THE FIRE SERVICE CLASS THIS WEEKEND. THIS 16 HR CLASS COVERS THE INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM AS WELL AS NIMS (NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM).

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AT THEIR MONTHLY MEETING LAST NIGHT APPROVED THE PURCHASE OF 2 NEW AMBULANCES. THE 2 NEW UNITS WILL REPLACE THE CURRENT UNITS ONCE DELIVERED. THE CURRENT UNITS WILL BE PUT UP FOR SALE IN THE USED AMBULANCE MARKET.
