CONGRATULATIONS GO OUT TO KEN HOLCOMB FOR PASSING HIS EMT TESTING AND RECEIVING HIS CERTIFICATION. KEN COMPLETED THE 180 HR TRAINING CLASS AND PASSED BOTH HIS PRACTICAL AND WRITTEN PORTIONS OF THE EMT TEST.
CANDIDATES FROM THE CITY OF ERIE (10) KEARSARGE (1) AND FRANKLIN AREA FIRE DEPARTMENT (2) ALL COMPLETED THEIR FIREFIGHTER 1 TESTING AT STATION 42 TRAINING GROUNDS TODAY. THE TEST WAS SPONSORED BY PERRY HI-WAY WITH FEMA GRANT MONIES AND WAS ADMINISTERED THROUGH BUCKS CCC.

THE CREW FROM FIREFLY WAS IN FRIDAY MORNING TO PERFORM PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ON THE PUMPS TODAY. E-423, E-432, L-429 AND T-439 ALL HAD MAINTENANCE COMPLETED. THE FOAM SYSTEMS ON BOTH 423 AND 439 WERE ALSO CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE CLOGGED AT THE FOAM INTAKE LINE DUE TO GUMMING UP AT THE SCREENS.
HORTON HAS BEEN WORKING ON OUR NEW AMBULANCES FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS. WE RECIEVED WORD TODAY FROM OUR SALESMAN MARK MAGEE FROM KOLAJA EQUIPMENT SALES THAT THEY ANTICIPATE ON OUR NEW UNITS TO BE HERE THE FIRST WEEK OF JULY.

17 MEMBERS ATTENDED DRILL THIS EVENING AND PARTICIPATED IN SEARCH & RESCUE TRAINING. CREWS PRACTICED THE PRIMARY SEARCH TECHNIQUECS IN THE BURN PROP AND THE TOWER. CREWS USED FULL GEAR WITH SCBA AND COLD SMOKE FROM THE BULLARD SMAKE MACHINE TO SIMULATE ACTUAL CONDITIONS.

5 MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ATTENDED THE PA-130 BASIC WILD FIRE CLASS HOSTED BY THE ALBION FIRE DEPARTMENT. FIRE MEMBERS PETE, CHRIS, BRUCE, MIKE AND JOSH ATTENDED THIS 16 HOUR CLASS. THE CLASS CONSISTED OF BOTH LECTURE TIME AND PRACTICAL TIME.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE EMMCO WEST EMS RECOGNITION BANQUET, PERRY HIWAY WAS AWARDED AN HONORABLE MENTION AWARD FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE ACHIEVEMNT AWARD FOR 2012. WE JUST MISSED THE BORNZE LEVEL OF SERVICE BY 0.25%.
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HELD A CRAFT AND VENDOR FAIR AT THE SOCIAL HALL ON SATURDAY MAY 4TH FROM 10AM TILL 3PM. THE SOCIAL HALL WAS FILLED WITH VENDORS AND CRAFTERS OF ALL KINDS. TONIGHT FOR DRILL ALL THE LADDERS OWNED BY THE FIRE COMPANY WERE INSPECTED AS WELL AS RAISDED AND LOWERED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. 1 MINOR PROBLEM WITH A LANYARD TIEOFF WAS ADJUSTED SO THE LADDER WOULD WORK SMOOTHER WAS ADDRESSED.

LAST NIGHT'S COMEDY SHOW WAS A GREAT TIME. A CROWD OF 157 PEOPLE CAME TO SEE THE 3 COMICS PUT ON A VERY FUNNY SHOW. POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM THE PATRONS LEAVING THE SHOW CONFIRMED THAT ALL THOSE IN ATTENDANCE HAD A GREAT TIME.
PRO BOARD TESTING THRU BUCKS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE WAS COMPLETED TODAY FOR THE NFPA 1006 GENERAL RESCUE CERTIFICATION AS WELL AS THE VEHICLE & MACHINERY 1 CERTIFICATION. A TOTAL OF 17 CANDIDATES TOOK THE TEST.

WE RECEIVED WORD TODAY THAT OUR 2 NEW AMBULANCES HAVE HIT THE PRODUCTION LINE. WE HOPE TO HAVE SOME PRODUCTION PICTURES SOON. WE HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A FIRM DELIVERY DATE OTHER THAN TO ESTIMATE MID JUNE FOR DELIVERY.
MEMBERS AT STATION 42 FOR DRILL TONIGHT PUT THE SKID UNIT BACK ON T-439 AS WELL AS THE REGULAR BRUSH / GRASS FIRE EQUIPMENT. THE TRUCK IS READY FOR RESPONDING TO GRASS / BRUSH FIRES AS WELL AS ANY SITUATION WHERE A MINI-PUMPER / OFF ROAD UNIT MAY BE NEEDED.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AT LAST NIGHT'S MEETING MADE A DECISION TO MOVE FORWARD WITH 2 NEW PROGRAMS TO TRY AND ATTRACT MORE MEMBERS TO THE DEPARTMENT AND ALSO KEEP THE MEMBERS WE HAVE. 1. THE BOARD IS MOVING FORWARD WITH A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

THE LIVE IN PROGRAM HAS DOUBLED IN SIZE. THE ADDITION OF KEN HOLCOMB HAS INCREASED OUR LIVE IN POPULATION TO 2 NOW. KEN GOT HIS START AT FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP AND MOVED TO OUR LOCATION TO BE CLOSER TO CLASSES AND GAIN MORE EXPERIENCE.
0845 AM TODAY JANE HAMZA FROM EMMCO WEST ARRIVED AT THE STATION TO INSPECT OUR RESCUE AS PART OF THE RE-CERTIFICATION PROCESS FOR THE PA VOLUNTEER RESCUE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM IS A VOLUNTARY PROGRAM THAT RECOGNIZES THOSE DEPARTMENTS THAT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS IN BOTH EQUIPMENT CARRIED...
WEDNESDAY MARCH 6TH AND THURSDAY MARCH 7TH THE HURST SERVICE TRUCK FROM PREMIER WAS IN TOWN AND PERFORMED OUR ANNUAL SERVICE AND INSPECTION OF ALL OUR HURST EQUIPMENT, 21 PIECES IN ALL. THEY CHANGED THE HURST FLUID IN ALL 4 POWER UNITS AND MADE SURE THEY WERE OPERATING AT 5000PSI AS DESIGNED.
