MOBILE HOME FIRE IN FIRST DUE

0730 hrs. CREWS WERE CALLED TO THE 1500 BLOCK OF PINEGROVE WAY FOR A MOBILE HOME FIRE. E-434 RESPONDED WITH THE 2 PAID STAFF AND WERE ON THE SCENE WITH IN 5 MINUTES FROM DISPATCH TO FIND A WORKING FIRE WITH FLAMES SHOWING. NEIGHBORS REPORTED 1 LADY IN THE HOME. THE CREW SPLIT WITH 1 MEMBER ENTERING FOR PRIMARY SEARCH AND 1 DEPLOYED A 13/4" HOSELINE TO BEGIN FIRE SUPRESSION. CHIEF 420 ARRIVED JUST BEHIND E-434 AND ASSISTED THE CREW. THE SEARCH FOUND AN OCCUPANT ON THE FLOOR OF THE LIVING ROOM AND WAS REMOVED. ONCE OUTSIDE THE PT WAS MOVED AWAY FROM THE HOME AND OXYGEN WAS ADMINISTERED. MPS AMBULANCE ARRIVED ON SCENE AND PT CARE WAS TURNED OVER TO THEM FOR TRANSPORT TO THE TRAUMA CENTER. CREW OF 2 ON E-405 AND A SINGLE DRIVER IN T-685 WERE THE NEXT DUE ON SCENE. THE CREWS HELPED WITH INTERIOR FIRE ATTACK AND PROVIDED WATER AS THERE ARE NO HYDRANTS IN THIS MOBILE HOME PARK E-405 AND T-685 PROVIDED 4000 GALLONS WATER. E-483 WEST LAKE AND R-444 FROM KEARSARGE WERE NEXT DUE WITH 2 GUYS EACH AND ASSISTED WITH THE FIRE FIGHT. WATERFORD E-145 ARRIVED WITH 3 MEMBERS. S-437 RESPONDED WITH A OFF DUTY STAFF WHO HEARD THE CALL AND REPORTED TO THE STATION. HE HELD THE REHAB SECTOR AND ASSISTED IN PUMP OPERATION OF E-434. ADITIONAL ENGINES FROM BELLE VALLEY AND WEST RIDGE ALSO RESPONDED FOR MANPOWER. WEST RIDGE WAS TASKED WITH HAND STREACHING A SUPPLY LINE THRU THE YARDS OF MOBILE HOMES FROM A HYDRANT ON CURTIS ROAD TO THE EAST OF THE FIREGROUNDS. 600' OF 5" WAS HAND LAID TO PROVIDE A WATER SUPPLY TO THE FIRE. ADDITIONAL MANPOWER RESPONDED FROM LAKE SHORE IN THEIR UTILITY TRUCK. THE 9 TO 9 STAFF REPPORTED TO THE SCENE IN S-427 AT 9AM AND STOOD BY FOR INJURIES AND PROVIDE REHAB. THE FIRE WAS LISTED UNDER CONTROL BY 830AM AND ALL CREWS WERE BACK IN SERVICE BY 11AM.

THE FIRE HAD DONE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE KITCHEN AND ROOF AREA OF THE HOME WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE ROOF BURNED OFF AND COLLAPSED. INVESTIGATION OF THE FIRE FOUND THE ORIGIN IN THE KITCHEN WHERE IT APPEARED THE OCCUPANT WAS COOKING TO START THE FIRE. THE FIRE WENT UP THE BACK WALL BEHIND THE STOVE AND UP INTO THE ROOF AREA. THE TRUSS ROOF SUPPORTS CAUGHT FIRE AND SPREAD FROM 1 END OF THE DOUBLE WIDE HOME TO THE OTHER AND CAUSED THE MAJORITY OF THE ROOF TO COLLAPSE. 1 FIREFIGHTER SUSTAINED A SHOULDER INJURY DURING THE INTERIOR FIRE ATTACK DUE TO THE COLLAPSING ROOF.

UNITS ON SCENE: E-434, S-437, U-438, S-427, E-405, T-685, E-143, R-444, E-483, E-364, E-472, U-504, MPS-28.

THE OCCUPANT HAD SUFFERED SMOKE INHALATION BUT NO BURNS AND WAS TRANSFERED TO THE BURN UNIT IN PITTSBURGH FOR CARE. THE FIREFIGHTER WAS TREATED AND RELEASED FROM THE ER.
