DRYER FIRE IN LOCAL HOTEL

JUST BEFORE 8AM TODAY CREWS WERE CALLED FOR AN AUTOMATIC FIRE ALARM IN THE BEST WESTERN HOTEL ON OLIVER ROAD.  THE CALL WAS UPGRADED TO A ACTUAL FIRE IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM WITH BOTH SMOKE DETECTOR AND SPRINKLER WATER FLOW ALARMS AND A WORKER CALLING IN TO REPORT A FIRE IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM. Q-429 RESPONDED FROM STATION 42 WITH 2 WITH 2 PAID STAFF,  CHIEF 420 RESPONDED TO THE SCENE AND U-438 RESPONDED WITH 2 VOLUNTEERS FROM STATION 43. MCKEAN RESPONDED WITH 2 ENGINES AND 5 MEMBERS. Q-429 SUPPORTED THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM THEN WENT INSIDE TO INVESTIGATE THE LAUNDRY ROOM. SMOKE CONDITIONS WERE FOUND ON LOCATION, THE FIRE WAS LOCATED IN A DRYER IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR AND 1 SPRINKER HEAD HAD OPENED IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM. THE FIRE IN THE DRYER HAD BEEN EXTINGUISHED BY ON SITE PERSONNEL WITH A DRY CHEM FIRE EXTINGUISHER.  WEST RIDGE AND KUHL HOSE WERE CALLED FOR 1 ENGINE EACH FOR ADDITIONAL MANPOWER AS STATION 44 HAD 1 MEMBER AT THE STATION. WEST LAKE FILLED THE RIT ASSIGNMENT.  THE HOTEL WAS CHECKED ROOM BY ROOM TO MAKE SURE ALL OCCUPANTS WERE OUT AND ALSO CHECK FOR SMOKE.  THE FIRE WAS HELD TO THE LAUNDRY ROOM.  THE SMOKE ON THE 1ST AND 2ND FLOORS WERE VENTED WITH SEVERAL FANS.  THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO FIREFIGHTERS OR CIVILIANS.
