MVA UTILIZES NEW HURST EQUIPMENT

CREWS WERE SUMMONED TO THE 8800 BLOCK OF PERRY HIWAY JUST BEFORE NOON TODAY FOR A MVA WITH PSP TROOPER INVOLVED. S-427 AND S-437 RESPONDED FROM STATION 42 AND CHIEF 421 RESPONDED POV.  CREWS WERE ON SCENE WITH IN 6 MIN FROM DISPATCH. FIRST ARRIVING CREW REPORTED 2 VEHICLES WITH MODERATE DAMAGE 1 IN THE DITCH WITH CONFINEMENT OF 2 PATIENTS.  THE VEHICLE IN THE DITCH COULD NOT OPEN ITS DOORS AND THERE WERE 2 PASSENGERS WITH NECK AND BACK PAINS IN THE CAR. CREWS USED THE NEW COMBI TOLL OFF S-427 TO REMOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ON THE HONDA IN THE DITCH TO GAIN ACCESS FOR REMOVAL OR THE OCCUPANTS.  BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE EXTRICATED OUT THRU THE PASS SIDE DOOR REMOVAL OPENING. EACH PT WAS ASSESSED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE TRAUMA CENTER WITH MINOR INJURIES. THE PSP TROOPER WAS NOT INJURED IN THE EVENT AND WAS TAKEN FOR EVALUATION TO THE ER BY PSP.  FIRE POLICE 4203 WAS ON SCENE FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL.
